Slug Tracks on a Mushroom (Algonquin Park, August 2014)
Slug or Snail Tracks (Algonquin Park, February 2015)
Snails and slugs leave this track on birch bark. This trail is left by the snail’s radula (or rasping tongue). Toothlets on this tongue rasp particles of algae growing on the tree bark and move them to the rear into the snail’s gullet.
