Wolves, Foxes, Coyotes

Canids have 5 toes on the front foot and four on the hind foot.  All tracks are 4-toed, however as the 5th front toe does not bear weight.  Their claws are non-retractile and show in the tracks. Canids have an acute sense of smell and use odour cues when hunting and when marking territory. (Peterson’s Guide to North American Mammals, page 438).
